From In-Person Draping to a Website Anyone Can Use
I didn’t start out building websites. I started out doing color analysis the traditional way — in person, one client at a time, with fabric swatches, natural light, and a lot of trial and error to get someone’s season exactly right.
That part of the work never changed. What changed was who I could actually help.
Every week I’d get messages from people who weren’t local — someone two cities away, someone in a completely different province, sometimes someone abroad — asking if there was any way to do a session without making the trip. For a long time, the honest answer was no. If you wanted an accurate color analysis, you had to physically sit across from me while I held colors up against your face in the right light.
That never sat right with me. A good color season result shouldn’t depend on how close you happen to live to the person who can tell it to you.
So I built this site.
The goal was simple: take the same core logic I used in every in-person session — undertone, contrast, depth, the questions that actually predict which colors work — and turn it into something anyone could go through from their phone, anywhere, for free. Not a watered-down version. Not a taste of the “real” analysis behind a paywall. The same thinking, just accessible without a plane ticket.
That’s still what this site is. A way for people who’d never be able to book an in-person session — because of distance, cost, or just timing — to get a real, useful answer about their colors in a few minutes.
Why It's Free
I remember what it was like charging for something I knew mattered but also knew not everyone could afford, especially when a good chunk of the value could be delivered without ever meeting in person. Making the core quiz free was a deliberate choice — no email required, no account, no upsell hiding the actual result. You take the quiz, you get your season.
What Hasn't Changed
I still believe an online quiz, however well built, isn’t a perfect replacement for sitting across from a trained eye with fabric swatches under controlled lighting. I say that on the site itself. But for the vast majority of people, especially those who’d otherwise have no access to a color consultation at all, this gets you remarkably close — and it gets you there today, not whenever your schedule and mine happen to line up.
